Apple released Mac OS X v. 10.4.9 today -- a free update to the Tiger OS.
If you're using Illustrator CS2 on an Intel-based Mac, you've no doubt experienced grief, much of which has been noted in the comments of this post.
If so, make sure you download and install 10.4.9. According to my own personal tests on an Intel-based MacBook Pro, upgrading to 10.4.9 fixes the Pathfinder crash issue and also makes all of my zeros appear correct (not as -0).
I have no idea if 10.4.9 introduce any other issues at this time. But at least we have something to keep us sane until CS3 comes rolling around...

Allright! It took some time but here it is ;-)
I'm VERY glad to hear that that annoying "-0" bug is going away. And I had simply stopped using Pathfinder.
Unfortunately, since installing 10.4.9, Illustrator CS2 won't even launch here. I'm about to reinstall!
Same here… Illustrator quits during launch. I think I’ll have to reinstall too.
I've now reinstalled twice. No luck. For a whole work week I've been using my old Powerbook (which I may never update past 10.4.8) for Illustrator and the MBP for everything else.
Take my advice, stick with 10.4.7.
my selection tool no longer allows scaling. i am running 10.4.9 on a mac pro. CS2. the pathfinder thing is nice but it is annoying to have to go to manual scale everytime i want to change a size.
