Mordy Down Under

I'm packing my Wacom tablet, my running shoes, and my iPhone (with data services disabled) and I'm heading down to Melbourne this weekend! It will be my first time on the "other" side of the world (although I'm falling just short of being able to make an Earth Sandwich).

It will surely be a spectacular week of Illustrator goodness (with a touch of Photoshop, Flash, and InDesign thrown in for good measure).

I'm sure, you all must be thinking that it must be great to be Mordy -- he gets to go to Australia! Let me remind you then of the following:

Mordy will thoroughly enjoy flying in a coach-class seat for some 20 hours. There is no power port in coach, so if when you purchase the next edition of Real World Illustrator you wonder why the book is handwritten with photocopies of sketches of dialog boxes, you'll know why.

Here is a list of sessions that Mordy is scheduled to give when he GETS to Australia...

- Photoshop + Illustrator = Great Teamwork
- The Smart Approach to Smart Objects
- Blend Mode Magic
- Flash with Illustrator and Photoshop
- Live Effects in Illustrator
- Color Me Simple
- Smart Filters and Smart Objects

In addition, I'm giving an all-day session entitled:

- I Didn't Know I Could Do That in Illustrator!

More is also spending an entire day with some extremely talented iStockPhoto illustrators. In all seriousness though, I am SO looking forward to this particular event, what iStock refers to as a Vectorlypse event. It should be incredibly cool to be in the midst of such amazing talent. I am sure to have lots of content and cool stuff to share after that event.

Then it's back on the plane for another 20 hours of quality "breathing recycled air" time.

At least one good thing should come of all this -- with that much "free" time on my hands, I should be able to find some time to write a few good blog posts, right?

It is time someone wrote a really good piece (maybe even a book Layers, Appearance and Filters?) on the wonders of the Appearance panel. I am sure a lot of your "I did'nt know you could do that.... " will feature a lot about the appearance panel. Maybe you can cover a few of the details here on the blog when you get back (writing on the return leg?).

Say hello to Cari Jansen for me if she is there.

Gary.
