So I got the news today -- one of my great friends over on the Illustrator engineering team, Dave MacLachlan, is leaving. Dave is a Mac guru and while he's worked on many different features over the years, he was integral in helping get performance in line on the Mac platform. Even more important than that, he was instrumental in creating the first native OSX version of Illustrator -- which was Illustrator 10 -- which also happened to be the first shipping OSX native product from Adobe at the time.
Dave is going to be working on some top-secret Mac technology for Google, and I can only imagine what we'll be seeing in the future from him. Best wishes in your new endeavors Dave, and thanks for holding the Mac up high in the world of Illustrator.
