Off-Topic: Help comes in many forms

I'm used to having people ask me for help. And I enjoy the challenges of answering hundreds of questions on a variety of topics and workflows (I can't believe no one has asked me for my great Stuffed Breast of Veal recipe yet).

So it's a weird feeling for me as I ask you for help -- help with a totally different (and more meaningful) challenge.

I have spent the past few months training to run a marathon this winter. On January 28, 2008, I will be running the ING Miami Half Marathon. However, the purpose of my running is not only for the personal accomplishment of completing a 13.1 mile run. More importantly, I am training in order to raise money for Chai Lifeline, a wonderful organization dedicated to helping very sick children and their families.

My objective is to raise $3,600 by race day and I hope you will help me reach this goal. All donations are 100% tax deductible. Please contribute by visiting my personal Team Lifeline Web page, where I've also added some more information about the Chai Lifeline organization.

If your company has a matching gift program, your gift may be doubled or tripled.

I thank you in advance for supporting me in any small way you can, and in doing so, helping children and their families cope with the diagnosis, treatment and aftermath of serious pediatric illness.

Now the only question that remains is, how the heck will I be able to train for a big race and write three blogs in addition to my regular schedule? Ah, yet another challenge!

I look forward to keeping you informed of my progress.

Like the new look of the layout! Also, I too am in training for my first marathon here in Houston, TX. The Cheveron Marathon in Jan of 08. While I'm not participating in any charities this year, I probably will next time. Good luck on your fundraising. And remember to keep running!

After those long runs, a little time writing blog entries will be just the ticket for all those rambling thoughts. Good luck on your marathon!
