Adobe to Open Source Flex!

OK, so while this isn't exactly news about Illustrator, it is news about Adobe, and it is news about Flex -- and Illustrator CS3 can be used to create elements used with Flex.

Adobe has announced plans to open source Flex under the Mozilla Public License. Adobe has been quite generous in the open source arena as of late (they announced a similar plan to open source the PDF libraries not too long ago), and this is all very refreshing. While I can't state any immediate impact this will have on all of us, developers around the world are quite happy -- and if developers are happy, that only means more cool technology will be forthcoming for us -- the end users.

Press release here.
